D.C. Dealer Tour, Day 1

Published June 2, 2010

BRAIN kicked off its Dealer Tour of Washington D.C. on Tuesday with stops at shops in Alexandria, Crystal City and Arlington. We capped a long day by joining 200 local riders for Conte's Tuesday night shop ride. Here are some pictures from the first day:

Matt Simpson of Pedro's had the only mechanical of the day, managing to flat before we reached the first shop visit.

Todson's Dorothy Nichols braves the rain during an afternoon thunderstorm. Ain't no thing for this Colorado native!

Revolution Cycles owner Mike Hamannwright shows the locker where he stores nearly 100 city bikes for his new bike share and rental concept, called City Hub. For $25 a year, locals can rent a bike for up to three hours a day.

Technology takes over as the Smartphone-addicted Dealer Tour crew gets their Tweet on during a quick stop.

Conte's in Arlington wins the best shop bathroom award for its 13-inch flat-screen television and state-of-the-art Dyson hand dryer. We see a lot of loos out there visiting dealers and this one was one of the cleanest!

Conte's pulls an impressive crowd for its weekly police-escorted Tuesday night rides. More than 200 riders showed up for this week's ride and free barbecue, sponsored by Zipp.

Pedro's Matt Bracken gets ready to grub after the hourlong ride.

Due to a slight navigation lapse we saw much of the city at night as we pedaled our way from Arlington to Alexandria in the rapidly fading light. Oops!
