Transit strike no worry for Philly Bike Expo

Published November 3, 2016

PHILADELPHIA (BRAIN) — Organizers of this weekend's Philly Bike Show say a transit workers strike, which began Nov. 1, should have little effect on this weekend's show.

"The good news is that Regional Rail services are not affected by the transit strike," organizers said. "This is particularly good because Regional Rail serves Philly airport, many suburbs, and the Market East (Jefferson) station is just one block from the Pennsylvania Convention Center where the Philly Bike Expo is held."

The consumer show is Saturday and Sunday at the convention center. It's open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday.

Organizers are encouraging visitors to ride their bikes to the expo. "This generally offers the most reliable trip-planning time, especially when overloaded mass transit systems might be off-schedule," they said.

Neighborhood Bike Works is providing free indoor valet bicycle parking at the convention center. There will be 125,000 square feet of bike parking available in Hall F of the convention center.
