MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Saris Cycling Group is expanding its portfolio of bicycle infrastructure products with the acquisition of Bike Fixtation. Bike Fixtation is a Minneapolis company that makes repair stations, public air pumps, bicycle wash stations, vending machines for cycling-related items and bicycle signage.

"When you look at the category of bike infrastructure, you look at it as one of the great ways you can help create positive experiences on the bike," said Chris Fortune, founder and president of Saris Cycling Group. The acquisition was announced last week.

Besides car racks, Saris manufactures a variety of indoor bicycle racks for consumers as well as racks for commercial use typically found outside stores or public buildings. Saris also owns the power meter brand, Powertap, and the indoor trainer brand, CycleOps.

Bike Fixtation founder, Chad DeBaker, and Andy Lambert, the company's sales and marketing director, will remain with the company and will continue to operate it out of the Minneapolis facility. Bike Fixtation's brand, warranties, customer and technical support remain unchanged.

Chris and Sara Fortune bought Graber in 1989, a family-owned company that manufactured roof, trunk and hitch racks. Fortune later changed its name to Saris and began developing new products for the industry.

Fortune said Saris would continue to invest in the Bike Fixtation team. "Ultimately, this new partnership will allow both Saris Cycling Group and Bike Fixtation to become a one-stop-shop for all products needed to implement and support bicycle infrastructure," he said.
