ANAHEIM, Calif. (BRAIN) — Box Components has agreed to be the Official Bike Plate Supplier of the UCI BMX World Championships and UCI World Cups over the next three years, and will be the sole bike plate supplier for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
"Everyone at Box is very excited to be working with the Union Cycliste Internationale and to be participating in these two major international events. It's a huge honor to be part of the UCI BMX World Championships again and the Olympic Games," said Michael Gamstetter, Box's creative director.
Box began supplying number plates to the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in 2012. Last year, it provided plates to the UCI BMX World Championships in Zolder, Belgium.
The plates for each event are done in a custom colorway with custom stickers and numbers.
"Since 2012, we have supplied UCI events more than 12,000 number plates. Each event has its own special requirements, making this a complex undertaking, particularly the UCI World Championships, where we supply the largest quantity in two sizes, with five different color stickers and all of the plates sequentially numbered, plus numbered side plates," Gamstetter said.
The number plates for the UCI World Championships were a rich yellow with a deep blue Box logo and red rivets and hook-and-loop closures. The colors came from the host country's national flag.
The Olympic plates reflect the Rio Olympic Games branding and will be dark green with light green rivets.
