Accessory brand confines sales to bike industry, revises MAP and ends consumer-direct sales.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (BRAIN) — Accessories brand XLAB is pledging its allegiance to the IBD by enacting a "XLAB Loyalty Program." The company, which makes hydration, nutrition and repair storage products for bicycles said it will now sell only to authorized dealers and distributors in the bike industry. It also has revised its Minimum Advertised Price policy to make MAP prices the same as MSRP, and said it will not sell consumer direct through its own website.

Candice Turner, XLAB's COO, said, "suppliers need to do more to support IBDs, by not selling against them, and to rigorously and consistently enforce their MAP policies."

The new policies also include a buy back program to rotate out any slow-selling product and adoption of the Buy Local Now program.

The company said the moves are part of a "progressive strategy to bring sales back to IBDs and offer strong margins with XLAB products."
