CORVALLIS, OR — E-bike brand Currie Technologies is working with Oregon retailer Bike N’ Hike and a state non-profit organization to make e-bikes available for Kaiser Permanente employees.
The "final mile" program makes 32 IZIP E3 Compact e-Bikes available to the Kaiser employees. The non-profit group, Drive Oregon, will study how 180 Kaiser employees use the bikes at three designated work sites.
The idea is to study whether the transportation option will encourage more people to use the bikes. Drive Oregon plans to use the results to create a model for programs at other companies.
“We are pleased to be able to partner with Bike N’ Hike and Drive Oregon on this project," said Rob Kaplan, Currie Technologies' vice president of sales and marketing. "By working in combination with our local dealer, Bike N’ Hike, we are confident that this project will create a great alternative to automobile use, cut down on carbon emissions and parking congestion, and get more people outdoors and riding bikes, which is a good thing for any community."
Bike N' Hike was founded by Al French in 1971 in Corvallis. Today the chain has stores in Corvallis, Albany, Beaverton, Milwaukie, Hillsboro and Portland.
