SIMI VALLEY, CA (BRAIN) — Currie Technologies will exhibit Haibike electric bikes at a renewable energy expo being hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy in California this week.
The DOE's Energy Solar Decathlon 2013 and XPO are being held in Irvine on the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station property. Organizers expect 100,000 visitors over the events' eight public days.
"We've been developing e-bikes for more than a decade, so it's been great to see them gaining traction in the U.S. the last couple of years," said Currie Technologies president Larry Pizzi. "Participating in the XPO Energy Exposition and the recognition and validity the Solar Decathlon brings to the event will help attract more attention to e-bikes as an alternative mode of transportation and as a way to just have fun while riding a bike."
Currie will show Haibike mountain and road models powered by Bosch's new mid-motor drive system. Consumers will also be able to enter a drawing to win a new ebike from Currie.
Besides the expo, the event features the Solar Decathlon, which challenges collegiate teams to design, build and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient and attractive. The Solar Decathlon is making its California debut after being held in Washington, D.C., since its inception in 2002.
