MANCHESTER, NH (BRAIN) — Greg Brodsky, longtime leader of The Bike Cooperative, stepped aside Feb. 1 as outdoor industry veteran Scott Barrett became the new president of the retailer-owned cooperative.
Barrett comes to The Bike Cooperative as a lifelong cycling enthusiast. He most recently served as chief marketing officer and head of e-commerce at Eastern Mountain Sports.
“I am excited to welcome Scott as the new president of TBC — we could not have found a better fit,” said Brodsky. “Scott has an incredible business background, a passion to help the IBD community, and the skill set to grow the Co-op to the next level. I think our retailers will find him to be friendly, smart, and a huge asset for our group. I’m really looking forward to see how he builds the Co-op.”
Barrett’s credentials include a bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University, an MBA from Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School of Business, and a digital marketing concentration from the Harvard Business School Executive Education program. In addition to his time at Eastern Mountain Sports, Barrett has filled various marketing positions at Pepsico, Starwood Hotels and Major League Baseball.
Brodsky said he will continue part time to assist with the transition over the next few months, and work on TBC projects as needed.
“I am stepping away because, after 10 years, I have contributed what I can offer to the growth of this amazing organization. I feel a deep obligation to the independent retailers of this industry and I truly believe that bringing Scott on board is the best way for The Bike Co-op to grow exponentially moving forward. I am grateful to our members and vendors who helped us get to this point of stability, and I’m excited to see how far the team takes it from here. Personally I’ll be taking a few months just to relax, and ride my bike.”
