DT Swiss beefs up dealer support

Published October 30, 2012

GRAND JUNCTION, CO (BRAIN) — DT Swiss has shuffled several staff roles and bolstered support for its North American dealers.

U.S. marketing director Paul Guebara is now dealer support and account manager, while Chad Eskins, formerly responsible for OE sales support, shifts to dealer support and tech representative. The pair take on complementary roles, with Guebara coordinating dealer support out of U.S. headquarters in Grand Junction and Eskins out on the road visiting retailers to conduct tech and sales clinics and provide other product assistance.

Guebara said the reorganization was prompted by the increased volume of dealer calls to the company as DT Swiss has increased its presence in newer markets such as road and tri. “We were already pretty well-known on the mountain side, but our scope is much wider than it used to be—we have 60 different wheelsets now. We want to be there and have our doors open as much as possible to give support on the dealer side of things.”

Guebara has been with DT Swiss since 2005 and took over marketing in 2009. He had always done some retailer support, but now he’s able to concentrate all his efforts here on dealer needs. Before DT Swiss, Eskins worked at custom framebuilder Kent Eriksen Cycles and also was demo driver for Yeti.

“Chad has a lot of contacts and is used to that role,” Guebara said. “What’s good about Chad is that he also has plenty of tech and bike shop experience. He can rebuild a wheel and put together a bike from scratch. Anything that needs to be done on the road he can do in a hurry.”

Meanwhile, aftermarket sales manager Matt McClendon has moved into Guebara’s former role as marketing and account executive. As previously reported on the BRAIN website, 20-year industry veteran Dwayne Weddle has assumed Eskins’ former role in OE sales.
