Specialized promotes Porter • Olympic BMX season kicks off at Chula Vista • Cinelli available through Shopatron
MORGAN HILL, CA (BRAIN) Thursday March 29 2012 4:05 PM MT—Specialized has promoted Jesse Porter from West regional Sales Manager to National Business Development Manager, the company told its dealers in a letter this week.
Specialized is looking to Porter to develop a closer relationship between its dealers and the company, the letter said.

• Direct involvement in your marketing efforts, event and community outreach
• In-depth clinics on not only product but sales strategy and effective selling methods

The letter was signed by Porter and Kirk Richardson, the company's U.S. general manager.
Olympic BMX season kicks off at Chula Vista
CHULA VISTA, CA (BRAIN) Thursday March 29 2012 4:09 PM MT—The BMX Olympic year kicks off this weekend with the opening round of the UCI Supercross BMX World Cup and the USA Cycling BMX National Championships in Chula Vista, California.
The World Cup event is the first of three leading into this summer’s Olympic Games. The World Cup counts toward the 2011-2012 UCI BMX Nations Rankings which will determine each nation’s number of start spots for BMX at the Games. Additionally, both the national championships and the world cup count toward the 2011-12 USA Cycling BMX Power Rankings, which are part of the selection criteria that will be used to name athletes to the U.S. Olympic Team for BMX.
USA Cycling and the United States Olympic Committee will also be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new track under construction at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. The track is a replica of the one being used at the London Olympics. The ceremony is at 6:15 p.m.
Cinelli bikes and frames available online through Shopatron
SAN LUIS OBSIPO, CA (BRAIN) Thursday March 29 2012 4:15 PM MT—North American consumers will be able to buy Cinelli frames and bikes online via Shopatron, the company announced Thursday.
Cinelli dealers can opt to fulfill orders placed through Cinelli USA's website, said Bill Lane, Cinell USA's marketing director at BTI, Cinelli's U.S. distributor.
“Cinelli has always been a forward-looking brand, so it was natural for us to seek an innovative way to better serve our customers. eCommerce enables us to sell to potential customers in underserved parts of North America, while at the same time incentivizing new dealers to partner with us in these markets. It's a win for the brand, for the customer and for our retail partners," Lane said.
Giant, Diamondback, Ritchey and Louis Garneau are among the 45 cycling brands also working with Shopatron. About 1,900 retailers are part of the program.
