MALAGA, NJ (BRAIN)—BMX and mountain biking legend Eric Carter is heading up Hyper Bicycles' new mountain bike program, the company announced this week.

Carter raced for Hyper in 1993 when he won the NBL national pro title in BMX. He switched to mountain bike racing in 1996 and won several national and international titles in gravity events.

Carter will head up Hyper's mountain bike product development and organize marketing and events on the mountain bike side.

“To be handed the keys to the castle with the task of building a high-end line of mountain bikes for the Hyper brand is both a big responsibility and honor. It is a challenge I look forward to," Carter said in a press release.

Hyper also is sponsoring mountain bike racer Waylon Smith. Smith will focus on Super D and Enduro events.
