HELSINKI, Finland (BRAIN)—Sales of Mavic rims, wheels, apparel and footwear rose 5 percent last year, totaling € 106.4 million ($142. 4 million), according to year-end financial results released Thursday by Amer Sports, Mavic’s parent company.
Rims and wheels represented 82 percent of net sales, and cycling apparel and footwear made up 15 percent. For the year, net sales of rims and wheels increased by 4 percent, while apparel and footwear rose 14 percent, the report said.
The strongest growth was in the U.K. and the U.S. Still, the majority of Mavic’s sales—65 percent—came from the EMEA region, while 19 percent were logged in Asia Pacific and 16 percent in the Americas.
Amer also released results for the final quarter of the year, reporting that Mavic sales dipped 3 percent, from €27.1 million ($36.2 million) in the fourth quarter of 2009 to €26.8 ($35.8 million) million in 2010. Results were strong in the Americas in the final quarter of the year, rising 16 percent, but sales to OEMs decreased, Amer said.
