PHILADELPHIA, PA (BRAIN)—Industry veteran Fred Drenhouse died over the weekend after a long battle with cancer. Drenhouse had worked for a several major companies in the industry and was director of operations at Advanced Sports when he passed away, said Pat Cunnane, the company’s president.
Drenhouse spent his working career in the industry starting at Ross Bicycles in 1974. He later worked for Trek and Diamondback. Drenhouse, often called “Big Fred” by his friends, was a 6-foot, 6-inch, 290-pound man who fought cancer for months before his death, said Cunnane.
“He was tough and hard to get to know,” Cunnane said. “As you got to know Fred, you learned that he was loyal, kind, smart and hardworking—a no nonsense man. Most of all Fred was a problem solver,” he added.
Drenhouse attended Wisconsin State University ands served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He served in Army Intelligence while stationed in Germany.
