SEATTLE, WA (BRAIN)—Wetsuit company Blueseventy has named Steve Nicholls as its new chief executive officer.
Nicholls has been part of the company for the past eight years and most recently held the position of head of product development and operations. It has been in that position—alongside departing chief executive officer Tim Moxey—he has helped build the brand.
Moxey will be stepping back from his role with the company in order to focus on other projects. "I've worked with Steve to get the brand to where it is today. We're in an enviable position which has been five years in the making. We have the number one triathlon wetsuit in the world over in every distance, the world's fastest swimskins, an Olympic gold medal, and a now a red hot product for the pool, the nero race swimskin," Moxey said.
He leaves Blueseventy in a position of strength, and plans to dedicate his time to his other passion, Nuun Active Hydration, the rapidly growing hydration company out of Seattle. Moxey will still keep an active interest in the company sitting as a board member.
Nicholls has gradually taken over the day to day running of the company over the past 12 months, in what has been a managed exit for Moxey.
"It's been fantastic to have worked side by side with Tim to set up and grow Blueseventy as a brand," Nicholls said. "Ultimately he reached a point where he felt he needed to step aside to allow the company to grow and focus in his own projects, and that's been tough on him, but I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing to build on the success of the past few years."
Working closely alongside Nicholls to ensure the continued growth and development of the Blueseventy brand will be newly appointed global sales and marketing manager Dean Jackson. Jackson has significant experience in the industry, most recently with The American Bicycle group (Quintana Roo, Litespeed and Merlin). This new position has been created to help develop a more powerful marketing strategy to take the company forward and to gain greater prominence for the rapidly growing product line. Chief among these tasks is to open up new opportunities for Blueseventy, including the highly successful introduction this year of their pool specific nero swimskins, a project which Jackson has been an integral part since starting in February.
"I'm thrilled to be part of such an exciting and rapidly growing brand," Jackson said. "Blueseventy are leaders in the industry, and I am looking forward to playing such a major part in such an innovative and impactful company."
