BLOOMINGTON, MN (BRAIN)—Beginning in January, QBP and WTB will donate a portion of profits from sales of WTB Rocket V Team black saddles to the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame.
The museum, which is located in Crested Butte, Colorado, chronicles the history of mountain biking and recognizes the contributions of the outstanding athletes and individuals who have built the sport. The Hall of Fame will use the funds to maintain and expand its collection of vintage bikes, photos and historic records and memorabilia.
“Mark Slate, one of WTB's founders, is already in the Hall. That’s why WTB is especially pleased to partner with QBP and generate funding for the museum," said Gary Gleason, WTB director of sales.
Mark Slate, co-owner and founding member of WTB, was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 1992.
“It only makes sense for mountain bike riders to support the Hall of Fame,” said QBP advocacy director Gary Sjoquist. “Both QBP and WTB recognize the important role the Hall plays in honoring the pioneers who created mountain bikes and the trails we ride and race on.”
“This is the first time such an arrangement has been offered to the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. We applaud QBP and WTB for this commitment,” said Don Cook, museum curator.
Since it was founded in 1988, 96 individuals and four groups have been inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. This year’s nominees include Hill Abell, Alison Sydor, Sal Ruibal and Frank Wadelton. They will be officially welcomed into the Hall of Fame during a ceremony on September 26 at Interbike.
