OLATHE, Kan. (BRAIN) — Garmin has released a rearview radar activated tail light with a built-in camera that continuously records during a ride and saves video if an incident occurs.
The Varia RCT715 records footage up to 1080p/30 fps. It also provides visual and audible notifications to warn of vehicles approaching up to 153 yards away. Garmin says the tail light can be sewn up to a mile away.
The RCT715 is compatible with the Garmin Edge cycling computers, Garmin smartwatch, and the Varia smart device app. It can be paired with a smartphone to integrate with third-party apps like Ride with GPS. Garmin says video footage can be easily accessed, transfered, and camera settings can be customized, such as data overlays from the Varia app.
The battery can last up to four hours on a charge with the camerage record at 1080p. The Varia RCT715 retails for $399.99 and is available now.
