BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Skratch Labs is making a limited seasonal rerelease of one of its Sport Hydration Drink Mix flavors, Pineapple. Pineapple Sport Hydration Drink Mix is available in 440 gram bags exclusively to the Specialty Run, Bike, and Outdoor channels through this summer.
Dr. Allen Lim, Skratch Labs' founder, said thedecision to bring back the flavor resulted from an outpouring of customer feedback. "One of the reasons that I believe it resonated with folks was because it tasted like 'real pineapple' as it was made from 'real pineapple.' The drink mix even smells like pineapple," Lim said. "Like all our Sports Hydration Mixes, Pineapple uses the same ratio of sugar and salt, specifically designed to replace what you lose when you sweat."
Sports Hydration Mix was made to replace the water and electrolytes lost from sweat. The electrolyte profile is 750-800 mg of sodium per liter, which Skratch says reflects the average athletes' sodium sweat concentration. The company says the formulation hydrates much faster than water alone and won't upset the athlete's stomach like sports drinks with food coloring and preservatives can.
