Sales of limited edition Giro gloves benefit junior race team director

Published May 6, 2016

PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — All proceeds from the sale of a special edition Giro DND mountain bike glove will benefit Jim Brown of Olympia, Washington, who has directed the Rad Racing NW junior cycling team for nearly two decades.

A year ago, Brown was diagnosed with advanced adenocarcinoma, a lung cancer.

The gloves are modeled on the "HOLD FAST" tattoo on Brown's knuckles. The term refers to the importance of securing a ship’s rigging heading into storm and is a reference to Brown's days in the U.S. Coast Guard.

All proceeds are being donated to the Hold Fast for Jim Brown Fund.

The gloves are $40 and available at theathleticcommunity.com.
