MIO Alpha is strapless, continuous heart rate monitor watch

Published October 14, 2013

JACKSON, WY (BRAIN) — The MIO Alpha claims to be the world's first strapless continuous heart rate monitor that is as accurate as chest-strap models.

An optic sensor reads the blood profusion in the user's wrist and converts that into heart rate. The watch functions for cycling at all speeds and for running up to 14 mph.

The watch was designed with simplicity in mind with only essential features and two-button navigation. It shows heart continuously and has user-settable heart rate zones with visual and audible alerts. It also has a data review function, an activity timer and clock.

It can connect with compatible smart phones via Bluetooth Smart wireless technology.

MSRP: $199.
