Campagnolo brings EPS to TT and tri bikes

Published May 24, 2012

VICENZA, Italy (BRAIN) Thursday May 24 2012 9:55 AM MT—Campagmolo has quickly brought its EPS electronic shifting technology on to time trial and triathlon bikes with a selection of new parts introduced this week.

"Since the presentation of the EPS in Sicily, the demand for bar-end EPS controls and EPS brake controls has grown steadily stronger. Campagnolo has responded to this market demand as a true leader, drastically cutting development times to launch these two innovative products today - just six months since the arrival of the Super Record 11s and Record 11s electronic systems," the company said in a press statement.

Besides the new shifters and brake levers, the group includes two carbon aero crankets.

The bar-end EPS controls look similar to a cable-actuated bar-end shifter, but allows the rider to shift up to 11 gears up or down by holding the lever. The lever always returns to its original position after a shift. The shifter also has a button to allow the rider to check the battery level and fine-tune derailleur adjustments.

The bar-end brake and shift levers feature an aerodynamic carbon lever with separate brake and shift buttons and a brake quick release button.

The new Bullet Ultra and Bora Ultra cranksets each have carbon fiber spiders designed to be aerodynamic and stiff. The Bullet has a Power-Torque bottom bracket and ceramic ball bearings and is available in 34/50, 36/52 and39/53 chainring combinations, in 170, 172.5 and 175 mm lengths.

The Bora Ultra has a titanium axle and an Ultra-Torque bottom bracket. The set uses Campy's CULT ceramic beaings. Available chainrings are 39/53, 42/54 and 42/55.
