KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (BRAIN) — The Malaysia government has ordered a COVID-19 lockdown to continue at least until June 28, extending the closure of bike factories there by at least another two weeks.

On June 1, Shimano and Kent Bicycle factories in the country reduced work to 60% capacity in compliance with local orders. On June 10 the government ordered all factories to close completely at least through June 14. This week the government extended the lockdown until at least the 28th.

Shimano has manufactured lower-priced hubs, derailleurs, wheels, pedals, freewheels and brakes at its Malaysia facilities, which it first established in 1990.
