DENVER (BRAIN) — Gates Carbon Drive has new distribution partners in the U.K. and Spain, and has released a new instructional video and several new products.
In the U.K., Gates is working with Velorution for distribution and service. Velorution, which specializes in urban bike products from its base in London, will be responsible for exapanding Gates' sales and consumer awareness in the U.K. market.
"Velorution are the perfect partner for Gates because they are urban cycling experts and have worked with belt-drive bike brands including Schindelhauer and Van Nicholas for many years," said Chris Harris, sales manager for Gates in the U.K.. "With Velorution on our team we expect that many more British consumers will discover how the grease-free Gates belt drive simplifies cycling."
In Spain, Gates has signed a deal with BikeZeNter to be that country's official distributor of Carbon Drive. BikeZeNter specializes in drivetrain technologies and is the Spanish distributor for belt drive bike brand Nicolai, and for the Pinion gearbox. "Gates Carbon Drive is a perfect solution for bicyclists who want a durable and efficient alternative to chains," said Xabier Gutierrez, founder of BikeZeNter.
"Our goal is to partner with top distributors in our many global markets to ensure consumers and bike brands in-country can correspond with the most knowledgeable local experts," says Todd Sellden, global director of Gates Carbon Drive. Gates also announced it has a new instructional video — aimed at consumers and mechanics — that details how to change a rear wheel on bikes with internally geared hubs (IGH). The video (below) provides information on rear wheel removal for Gates-equipped bikes with Shimano Alfine 8- and 11-speed hubs, Shimano Nexus 7 and the NuVinci N360 continuously variable planetary hub.
Finally, Gates is expanding its product range with a new 70-tooth sprocket for track bikes, as well as new 108-tooth, 111-tooth, and 125-tooth belt lengths.
