HOLSEBRO, Denmark (BRAIN) — Danish ceramic bearing maker CeramicSpeed has named Ben Powell as its U.S. aftermarket operations manager. Powell has worked with HED Cycling and will work out of Clermont, Florida, and Boulder, Colorado, as CeramicSpeed targets the U.S. market for the first time.
CeramicSpeed supplies several pro road teams, including OmegaPharma-Quick-Step, Tinkoff-Saxo and Team Astana, and world-class triathletes including Leanda Cave and Tyler Butterfield.
The company also supplies ceramic bearings used in SRAM’s Red and XX bottom brackets and in Specialized’s S-Works frames.
CeramicSpeed is currently represented and distributed in the United States by Radial Sports, QBP and Ocshner.
"Our intentions have always been to have a physical presence in the United States,” said CeramicSpeed managing director Martin BankeBanke. "Now at a time where we are heavily engaged with the world's most prolific cycling teams, triathletes and OEM customers, it makes perfect sense to increase our focus towards the United States."
"Ben's knowledge, passion and growing expertise for our products is superb. His proven ability to build and develop brands combined with his awareness of both the cycling and triathlon industry will be a great asset to the CeramicSpeed company."
Powell said he plans to build on CeramicSpeed’s OEM success in the U.S.
"It is important we develop new relations with strong, passionate dealers inside the U.S.,” he said. “We will put focus on educating, communicating and working closely with our partners."
