U.K. trade show group launches India Bicycle Expo

Published January 3, 2013

NOIDA, India (BRAIN) — U.K. trade show organizer ITE Group is launching India Bicycle Expo in November as the first international exhibition of bikes and bike parts for the growing premium market.

The show is scheduled for Nov. 28 to 30 at the six-hall India Expo Centre in Greater Noida region outside New Delhi, with the last day open to the public. The show is aiming to attract distributors and retailers of premium bicycles and bike parts and accessories, a segment that is growing at a rate of 24 to 28 percent, according to the ITE Group.

India’s middle and upper middle classes are quality- and fitness-conscious, but few of the leading bike brands have a presence in India. Manufacturers in India produce 15 million bicycles annually, about 3 million of which are exported, indicating significant demand in the domestic market.

“The market for bicycles in India is not saturated as yet and there is huge potential especially in the premium segment,” read a statement on the show’s website, www.indiabicycleexpo.com. The show bills itself as a huge opportunity for cycling enthusiasts and entrepreneurs seeking business ventures in the trade.

The event is run by the International Trade and Exhibitions India P Ltd., which is part of the ITE Group plc UK, a leading organizer of international trade exhibitions and conferences. It has not yet released booth prices or floor layout plans, but expects to have more details by early next week.
