CLOPPEBURG, Germany (BRAIN)—Derby Cycles is reporting a 25 percent increase in pre-season orders after wrapping up the tradeshow season in Europe.
Derby Cycle typically publishes the pre-order volume for the coming bike season after completing the financial year on Sept. 30. However, because the management board anticipates that the final increase in pre-order volumes on that date will be approximately on par with the current level, the company is releasing its first revenues forecast for the financial year 2011/12.
Management anticipates double-digit revenues growth year-on-year for the financial year 2011/12. This is primarily attributable to the strong demand among specialist retailers for electric bikes and sports bicycles from Derby Cycle brands, which include Focus, Kalkhoff, Rixe and Univega. Derby is also the licensee for Raleigh in much of Europe.
In the first three quarters of the 2010/2011 financial year, Derby reported revenue of 198.8 million euros ($288 million) with 413,000 units sold.
