EL PASO, Texas (BRAIN) — Helen of Troy's third-quarter net sales declined 3.4% year-over-year despite sales growth in its Home & Outdoor group, which includes Osprey and Hydro Flask.
Net sales for the three months ending Nov. 30 were $531 million, down from $550 million at the same time last year. Home & Outdoor sales were $246 million but that was offset by a 9.3% decline in Beauty & Wellness group's net sales reported at $285 million.
Helen of Troy credited the year-over-year 4.3% Home & Outdoor sales growth in part to retailer distribution gains in the insulated beverage and home categories, expanded international sales, and increased demand for technical packs.
Net income for the quarter fell 35%, from $76 million to $50 million year-over-year. Earnings per share was $2.17 compared with $3.19 at the same time last year.
Helen of Troy's corporate headquarters is in El Paso and its stock is traded on the NASDAQ under the HELE symbol. Stock quote at Marketwatch.com.
