CHICAGO (BRAIN) — PedalCell, a manufacturer of weather-proof generators for electronics charging, announced it will cease operations on Jan. 1.
Citing lagging demand and supply-chain challenges, "the resources required to run the business make the operation unsustainable," according to a PedalCell email announcing the decision. "Regardless, it pains us to make this decision."
Adam Hokin and Vishaal Mali started PedalCell to design a closed-system bicycle generator to be more powerful and efficient than others on the market. Assembled and developed in Chicago with components sourced globally, the generator-electronics system produces 15-20 watts to charge USB devices and entered the market in 2020.
According to PedalCell, its remaining inventory will be discounted. Because of low parts stock, warranty coverage will vary before the end of the year.
"We deeply appreciate and thank our customers, family, advisors, and friends who have supported us. Despite PedalCell's journey coming to a close, we believe we have made a small mark on the adventure bicycling world for the better."
