SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Vista Outdoor's Bell Sports division has notified the state of California of the permanent closure of its Scotts Valley facility, which included the layoff of 57 employees there.
On April 1 the company confirmed that it was closing the facility but at the time did not release the number of employees affected. The closure was part of a program to consolidate Vista Outdoor's cycling brands — Bell, Blackburn, Copilot, Fox Racing, Giro, Krash and Raskullz — at Fox Racing's headquarters in Irvine.
"Plans are underway to unite our teams at the current Fox offices, which will soon be transformed into a revamped Innovation Center that unites our teams under one roof while honoring each brand’s culture and ethos, which are unique, valued and untouchable. Fox will be Fox, Bell will be Bell and Giro will be Giro," said Jeff McGuane, the president of Vista Outdoor's Action Sports business unit in a statement provided to BRAIN in April.
On June 5 California's Employment Development Department received a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification fro Bell Sports, Inc. about the Scotts Valley closure. The WARN notice said the facility closure was effective July 14.
