LONDON (BRAIN) — Four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome has invested an undisclosed dollar amount in cycling tech company Hammerhead and will join its advisory board.
Froome's investment comes after Hammerhead recently became a partner of his new team, Israel Startup Nation.
Hammerhead said Froome has utilized the company's latest model, the Karoo 2, in his recovery and training from a broken femur in 2019. Hammerhead is using data and feedback from Israel Startup Nation for updates available to all Karoo 2 users.
"The Hammerhead Karoo 2 computer has been vital in getting me back to full fitness," Froome said. "After using the Karoo 2 in training and racing, I knew I wanted to get involved. ...."
Froome's investment follows a Series A investment of $14 million. Outside CEO Robin Thurston also is a minority investor in the company.
"Cycling means a lot of things to a lot of different people, and this has never been more true than in the last year," said Piet Morgan, Hammerhead founder and CEO. "As we continue to grow, we're incredibly excited to have Chris on board."
