Trek closes Electra office in Germany

Published November 12, 2020

HAMBURG, Germany (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle shut down its European Electra headquarters here on Tuesday. It had been home to Electra Europe for the past 12 years.

Trek Fahrrad GmbH in Dübendorf, Switzerland, will assume sales and service for all European Electra dealers immediately.

Trek bought Electra from its founders in 2014. Trek informed the office staff of the decision on a Zoom meeting.

Trek also sent a letter to European Electra dealers about the closing, stating Trek Fahrrad also will take over contracts, orders, open guarantee claims, and credits. Dealers can place orders as before, the letter said.

"In the coming weeks, we will also contact you personally to discuss our medium- and long-term Electra collaboration," the letter stated. "This applies both to dealers who sell Trek, Bontrager and Diamant, in addition to Electra, as well as to those whose offerings previously only included Electra."
