MADISON, WI (BRAIN) — Saris Cycling Group’s 10th annual gala last Friday attracted a crowd of more than 750 attendees and raised $109,000 for cycling in Wisconsin. Attendees spent more than $35,700 on live auction items.
One lucky winner took home a signed suitcase of courage, a signature item from special guest Phil Liggett, which auctioned off for $5,000.
“We worked hard with both the Bike Fed and other corporate sponsors to make this successful, and we’re very proud of the evening and very happy to contribute to the Bike Fed and better cycling in Wisconsin,” said Chris Fortune, president of Saris. “Anything we can do to make cycling better in our state is a win for everyone.”
Saris’ annual fundraiser has raised more than $830,000 over the past decade for the Wisconsin Bike Fed, a statewide, membership-based nonprofit.
This year’s Hollywood glam theme and special guest Liggett attracted a festive and excited crowd. The event was held in Saris’ factory in Madison, Wisconsin.
Since its modest beginning as a glorified pizza and beer affair, the Saris Gala has grown into one of the biggest advocacy fundraisers in the country.
