Jet Lites has new owners

Published June 17, 2013

RENO, NV (BRAIN) — Light maker Jet Lites has been purchased by Mike Henderson and Jim Scripps. The two, who are avid mountain bikers with experience in small business and tourism-related media, take over the company founded by Jim Taylor in 1997. Taylor died in a ski accident in 2008.

The company will remain based in Northern Nevada, they said. Jet Lites focuses on mountain biking lights, particularly those intended for 24-hour and endurance racing applications.

“We’ve raced and ridden at night, and have always known the Jet Lites brand as a homegrown leader in this space,” Henderson said. “Being able to pick up and carry the torch – and keep the company in our backyard – is a great honor.”

Henderson and Scripps said they will focus on product development and customer service.

“Fun is at the core of what this company is about, and we have every intention of continuing that tradition,” Scripps said. “We know riding is about freedom and joy, and Jet Lites products enable thousands of enthusiasts to experience their favorite pastime under the night sky.”

After Taylor's death, David Joseph and Laning Andrews continued operating the company and relocated it to Reno. They will continue to consult with Jet Lites.
