SAN ANSELMO, CA (BRAIN)—Share the Trail, a campaign of the Bicycle Trails Council of Marin and Access4Bikes, has launched a new Web site as one of the key components of its public awareness program.
The Web site, a great resource for mountain bikers, includes information about local trail news, upcoming events and suggested multi-use trails and loops. Prominently featured are the Share The Trail Rules, which encourage safe and courteous trail use, and a sign up for the monthly e-mail newsletter, which will have valuable stories and information to help build a stronger outdoor community.
While the Web site primarily targets mountain bikers, the Share the Trail campaign started as a dialog between equestrians, hikers and mountain bikers. This input has helped in building a comprehensive and interactive Web site and forum for all user groups.
For example, the Report An Incident feature on the home page gives all trail users a place to report incidences that occur out on the trails. This information will be used to identify trends and problems on public lands, which will help in forming new initiatives to improve hiker-biker-equestrian relations.
