BOULDER, COLO. (February 14, 2024) — As the bike industry continues to evolve, PeopleForBikes is proud to announce a new initiative extending access to its market research and reports beyond its membership base.

For years, PeopleForBikes has delivered comprehensive, data-driven insights tailored to the dynamic needs of its dues-paying Coalition members. In response to growing demand from across the industry as well as non-endemic groups, the trade association is offering select member-exclusive reports to non-members in a new resource marketplace.

"Our decision to make these reports accessible to a broader audience reflects our commitment to advancing bicycling and the bicycle industry as a whole," said PeopleForBikes President and CEO Jenn Dice. "By opening our research and insights to non-members, we can empower even more businesses to make informed decisions, drive innovation, and spur collective industry growth. We also anticipate that these reports will demonstrate the value of our organization and push more companies to join the PeopleForBikes Coalition."

"Making these reports more broadly available stems from the recognition that the challenges and opportunities facing the bicycle industry are not limited to our membership," said Rod Judd, director of membership and industry engagement. "By extending our reach, we hope to foster more collaboration, facilitate knowledge sharing, and create a stronger ecosystem for bike businesses to thrive."

Highlights of the newly available resources include:

Attracting and Keeping New Riders: PeopleForBikes' latest study describes how to recruit, retain, and reactivate individuals through various points in their relationship with bicycling. This report is the result of a series of focus-group style 1:1 interviews conducted with current and lapsed bicycle riders to gather information about their motivations, drivers, and barriers to bicycling.

E-Bike Curious Study: Little is known about those who are interested in purchasing an electric bicycle but have not done so yet. This study, published in 2023, was designed to better understand the potential market for electric bicycles with a focus on how to encourage the e-bike curious to make a purchase.

2022 Bicycling Participation Report: Conducted every other year, this report serves as a census of bicycling activities in the U.S. The 2022 report contains demographic, psychographic, and activity-specific data from 2014 to 2022.

Physical Activity Council Topline Report: This report describes general trends of bike riders, including broad trends in participation and demographic data. Deep-dive breakdowns for individual types of bicycling, including road, mountain and gravel, BMX, and stationary riding, are also available.

To access the available reports, non-members can visit resources.peopleforbikes.org. Existing members can continue to access PeopleForBikes' comprehensive library of industry resources through the PeopleForBikes Member Center. Covering topics from market trends and consumer behavior to regulatory insights and emerging technologies, the Member Center offers unparalleled value for bike businesses seeking to get ahead in today's competitive landscape.
