LOS ANGELES (DECEMBER 9, 2022) – In its 5th year, the Bahati Foundation and sponsoring partners, Giant and Liv Bicycles USA, will host the 5th Annual Motion Equals Healthy Bike Giveaway. The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 9 am – 1 pm. The event is hosted at Dignity Health Stadium Sports Park, Lot #13, at 18400 Avalon Blvd., Carson, Ca, 90746.

"With the success of past bike giveaways, our goal this year is to engage students that are receiving bikes in a more sustainable opportunity with our foundation,” explained Rahsaan Bahati, Founder, and President, of Bahati Foundation. “We see all students receiving bikes continuing their access and involvement through exposure in our 'B/Smart Cycle program and site-based 'Student Cycling Clubs', creating retention and sustainability."

The foundation is pleased to announce its educational partners this year are; Educating Young Minds (EYM), GEAR-UP CSU Dominguez Hills, Emerson Elementary, Dominguez High School CUSD, the City of Angeles Prep., Hawthorne, and Leuzinger High Schools.

Special thanks to all our foundation and event sponsors; Giant and Liv Bicycles USA, Zwift, Bharata Grills, DXS Logistics, Shimano, and OutsideTV. The alliance partners include; the Long Beach Parks/Recreation Department, Walk and Roll Long Beach, CycleBar, Methods To Winning LLC, Long Beach Health Services, and VELO Sports Center. In addition, this year, the foundation is presenting a Bike Safety Clinic with its partners for all students receiving a bike. The Bike Safety Clinic partners include; Streets Are for Everyone (SAFE), RideOn Bicycles, Howlers Youth Cycling, and Major Cycling Club LA.

The foundation will provide brand new Giant and Liv bicycles to children and teens ages 4 -17 who have been referred and participate in the Bahati Foundation Adopt-A-School outreach program. Participating students come from local public/private schools, after- school programs, and college-bound programs.

Again, we are proud to have Detectives from LAPD South Bureau Homicide Division and Officers from the 77th Division Community Relations Office as our partners. These partners have pre-selected a few children who have faced extreme hardships to be among the deserving local students receiving new Giant and Liv bicycles from the Bahati Foundation Adopt-A-School Program.

GIANT – LIV BICYCLES USA

Giant is the world's largest producer of high-quality bikes, but we never forget where we came from. Founded on the idea that the best way to inspire passion for cycling is to create the best products and make them accessible to all riders. Much has changed since we started in 1972. We introduced lighter, more robust aluminum frames at a time when the industry standard was steel. We were the first to make carbon fiber bikes widely available worldwide. We defined the look and feel of modern road racing bikes with our Compact Road technology. Liv is the first cycling brand entirely dedicated to women.

BAHATI FOUNDATION

Founded by a 10-time US National Champion Cyclist, Rahsaan Bahati, a graduate of Crenshaw High School LAUSD. The Bahati Foundation launched in 2010 in Los Angeles, California. The vision was conceived to create an organization that serves as a positive influence on community youth. The foundation achieves this mission by supporting underrepresented youth, providing resources and access to the sport of cycling, fitness/wellness, and STEM-based educational opportunities. We empower youth toward higher achievement on and off the bike through our GIVEBack 'Play Equity' Initiatives, which recognize all youth regardless of race and socioeconomic background.
