The Taipei Cycle Forum will include sessions on the latest in bicycle design and cycling culture, and look ahead to e-bikes and the cities of the future
Taipei: The Taiwan Foreign Trade Association (TAITRA), organiser of Taipei Cycle Show, has revealed the final lineup of speakers and subjects taking part in the Taipei Cycle Forum sessions at the show on 28 & 29 March, at Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, Conference Room 401.
Invited guests include Jan van Zanen, Mayor of Utrecht, Netherlands as well as cycling industry heavyweights both local and global. Building on the interactive learning elements from last year's Forum, the four main themes – Bicycle Design, Cycling Culture, e-bike Trends and Future City – will bring the industry's key thinkers together in an inclusive, hands-on event, providing a wealth of knowledge about current and future trends in the industry.
The first day, 28 March, will begin with Bicycle Design, when Mark Sanders, Director of MAS Design Products, Stephan Esser, of SQlab, and Henry Chang, the internationally-renowned Chief Designer of Gearlab, will explore developing trends in the cycling industry from the perspective of innovative design.
The second session, Cycling Culture will include a guest from one of the world's foremost cycling nations, the Netherlands, when Mayor Jan van Zanen of Utrecht will join Vicki Yang, CEO of the Cycling Lifestyle Foundation, and Rich Conroy, Director of Education at Bike New York, in a discussion about new ideas to optimise cycling environments.
On 29 March, during the third session e-bike Trends, the speakers will analyse the new horizons and business opportunities brought about by smart mobility, and guide participants towards insights about the future of e-bikes. Speakers for this session will be Susanne Brüsch, CEO of the Pedelec Adventures, Marian Baukrowitz, Director of Research for the German agency 4C Consumer Insight, and Manuel Marsilio, General Manager of the Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry (CONEBI).
The final session of the Forum, Future City, will be the most pivotal and interdisciplinary session, as Morten Kabell, CEO of the Copenhagenize Design Company in Denmark, Shyue-tair Chen, Commissioner of the Department of Transportation for the Taipei City Government, and Kevin Mayne, CEO of Cycling Industries Europe, will be invited to speak with attendees about the participant feedback and expert opinions compiled from the previous three sessions. Once again centering on bicycle design, cycling culture, and e-bike trends, the invited panel of experts will present strategic and constructive suggestions for the cycling industry and work alongside the attendees to outline plans for the cities of tomorrow.
All four sessions of the Taipei Cycle Forum will implement different formats and methods of interactive learning between experts and participants. By breaking down traditional barriers and bridging language gaps to concentrate on core concepts, space will be created for bold discussions and lively commentary that will make for an especially innovative and rewarding experience.
