TEMPE, Ariz. (BRAIN) — State Bicycle Co., a consumer direct bike brand, recently moved production of two of its most popular models to Taiwan from China to lessen the effects of tariffs during the ongoing U.S.-China trade war.

Items on tariff lists 1, 2, and 3 were set to increase from 25% to 30% on Oct. 1. On Wednesday, President Trump said that increase will be delayed until Oct. 15.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday tweeted that a planned increase in tariffs on Chinese goods, including many bike products, will be delayed 15 days.

The increased tariff will be imposed on a wide variety of bike parts, accessories, and apparel, including lights and helmets.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — The Chinese products that were set to receive an additional 10% tariff starting at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, will now be receiving a 15% additional tariff, instead, the U.S. Trade Representive said in a Federal Register post Friday.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — While President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that his administration will delay some tariffs on Chinese imports until Dec. 15, most bicycle products remain on a list subject to increased tariffs Sept. 1.
