Longtime BikeSource employee Dale Van Allen dies

Published August 5, 2021

COLUMBUS, Ohio (BRAIN) — BikeSource Vice President Dale Van Allen died Monday after a long battle with cancer. He was 49. Van Allen worked at BikeSource — a multi-chain store with locations in Ohio, Colorado, and North Carolina — for nearly all his life.

As a teenager, his BMX riding skills caught the attention of the BikeSource store manager, and he accepted his first job there at age 13.

Shortly after high school, he became an assistant buyer, then senior buyer in 2000 before ascending to BikeSource vice president in 2013. He was best known for his ability to analyze business, problem-solving skills, creativity, teamwork, and can-do attitude during 33 years at BikeSource.

He is survived by his son, Davis. Funeral arrangements — which will be handled by Lancaster Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Lancaster, South Carolina — have not yet been released.

Memorial contributions can be made to the 24 Foundation — Dale Van Allen Memorial Fund. Also, a memorial page has been created.
