Sycamore Cycles expanding flagship location, moving second store

Published January 30, 2019

BREVARD and HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (BRAIN) — Sycamore Cycles is expanding into a neighboring space at its flagship store in the mountain bike destination of Brevard, North Carolina, and will relocate its second store, 22 miles east in downtown Hendersonville, to a larger space in a revitalized historic neighborhood.

In Brevard, Sycamore has leased the recenty vacated office space behind the current store. “We blew a hole through the wall, and our rental and our service area are going to be in the back there. So we’re expanding quite a bit,” said Austin Parsons, manager of the retailer’s Hendersonville location.

In Hendersonville, Sycamore is moving from its 2,400-square-foot location downtown to a 4,000-square-foot space in the city’s Historic Seventh Avenue District.

“It’s an area that used to be just manufacturing and warehouses and things like that. But over last five to seven years, a bakery has moved in there, a coffee shop, a couple breweries, a brandy bar and restaurants. So it’s kind of an up-and-coming spot,” Parsons said.

The new location will give Sycamore larger sales and service areas, as well as additional storage. All back stock for both Sycamore locations will be built and stored at the new Hendersonville store. “We’re trying not to have bikes in boxes anymore,” Parsons said.

Dedicated parking for the shop is another welcome change.

“We’re gaining six parking spots, which is a huge deal where we are right now. Right now we have zero, because we’re downtown. We only have a loading zone and street parking. So we’ll be able to serve customers a lot better now. It’ll help out the shop because it will be much more convenient for our customers.” Parsons said.

Sycamore Cycles opened in Brevard in 2000, with the Hendersonville location following in 2012. The stores carry Specialized, Yeti, Norco and Salsa.
