CHICAGO (BRAIN) — SRAM has publicly released its long-awaited Eagle e-MTB drive system, which includes a motor manufactured by Brose, integrates with SRAM mountain bike groups, and includes automatic shifting and shifting-while-coasting features.
SRAM-sponsored pro rider Yannick Pontal won the 2022 EWS-E series with the system.
The new shifting features called Auto Shift and Coast Shift are made possible by powering the drivetrain independently from the cranks.
The system integrates with SRAM’s wireless AXS drivetrains including its XX, XO, and GX Eagle drivetrains. It also can be used with SRAM’s mechanical shifting systems without the Auto Shift and Coast Shift functions.
Its simplified controls include two wireless AXS shift pods that can control shifting, auto-shifting, and motor functions, as well as the wireless Reverb dropper post. The pods can also integrate with the RockShox Flight Attendant wireless suspension adjustment system.
The pod functions can all be customized through SRAM’s AXS mobile app. The system also integrates with head units from SRAM-owned Hammerhead or with third-party head units. A display integratedinton the toptube displays battery level and other motor information and allows the rider to turn the motor on or off or switch between its two power modes.
The motor offers up to 90Nm of torque and 680W peak power.
The system is available on bike models from Propain, Nukeproof, Transition, and GASGAS at launch and from other brands soon.
