INDIANAPOLIS (BRAIN) — Silca has introduced an updated Impero road bike frame pump, largely made in the U.S.
The Impero Ultimate has full aluminum construction and features a high-tech elastomer head gasket with two-stage seal for sealing and holding. The company said the design holds the valve better than lever chuck designs. The pump has a solid aluminum head with a brass check valve, along with an aluminum barrel, handle and piston rod.
FlexWing Silicone bumpers on the head and handle tip are designed to handle frame tubing diameters from 1-inch to 2.5-inch using a flexible outer wing that adjusts under pressure. An additional silicone bumper on the main barrel protects paint, eliminates vibrations and noise, and also acts as a compression lock against the pump handle to keep it from moving.
Impero Ultimate is manufactured in the U.S using Alcoa Aluminum extrusions and bar stock. Impero uses a 19mm diameter leather piston custom manufactured by the same supplier in Milan who has supplied Silva leather since 1947, and the brass check valve is a modified version of the check valve used in the SuperPista Ultimate floor pump.
It's available in four lengths to fit internal frame dimensions from 44 to 56cm.
MSRP is $165. More information at silca.cc/collections/all-silca/products/impero-ultimate-frame-pump.
