CHICAGO (BRAIN) — SRAM is launching two new single-chainring downhill groups that include technology borrowed from its single-ring XX1 and XO1 cross-country mountain bike groups, including wide-narrow X-Sync chainrings, Cage Lock and Roller Bearing Clutch features in the rear derailleur and a 7-speed X-Dome cassette.
The 7-speed group is the company's top of the line DH offering. SRAM said the smaller cog count allows downhill racers to make faster transitions from their starting gear to high gears. A 10-tooth small cog allows for smaller chainrings for increased ground clearance. The company also said the 7-speed cassette is the lightest on the market at a claimed 136 grams. The 7-speed cassette is comes in 10–24 teeth and is compatible with any wheel using a SRAM XD-compatible driver.
The group includes a new X01 7-speed trigger shifter with Zero Loss technology and uses an 11-speed compatible XX1 chain with Hard Chrome finish on the inner links and rollers to increase durability and strength.
The new DH groups include a new X01 DH X-SYNC carbon crank, which has a 94 BCD and is available with 30, 32, 34, 36, or 38 teeth chainrings. The crank is compatible with SRAM's 7-, 10- and 11-speed X-Sync chainrings.
The new X01 10-speed DH parts include a new XO 10-speed trigger shifter or X0 10-Speed Grip Shift. The 10-speed option uses SRAM's PG-1070 10-speed cassette, which SRAM said would be available with an 11-tooth small cog and sizes up to an 11-36.
