AIGLE, Switzerland (BRAIN) — The international cycling union, UCI, will allow disc brakes across all categories of pro road teams next season, including Continental, Pro Continental, WorldTeams and Women's teams. The organization still considers the disc brake use a "trial," however.
The UCI allowed WorldTour teams to use discs in two events of their choice in August and September this year. No major issues were reported.
Next year, "The use of disc brakes will be carefully monitored throughout the year with a view to definitively allowing them to be used in professional road cycling from 2017," the UCI said Monday.
