ProdecoTech to host e-bike technician training

Published March 4, 2014

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (BRAIN) — The Light Electric Vehicle Association has scheduled a technician training course at ProdecoTech's headquarters for May 1-2.

ProdecoTech, an electric bike manufacturer, is based just north of Fort Lauderdale in a new state-of-the-art factory.

The LEVA training class certifies e-bike service technicians and covers all three training levels — basic, intermediate and advanced. The complete course, which covers two eight-hour days, costs $500 for LEVA members and $1,000 for non-members and includes training, course materials and lunch both days at ProdecoTech. Travel and lodging costs are not included.

The training courses have been in high demand as a growing number of IBDs and e-bike specialty stores seek shop techs with the specialized knowledge required to service electric bikes.

By the advanced level, technicians learn how to diagnose complex failures and repair components, operate a computer-controlled battery analyzer and provide battery analysis to customers.

ProdecoTech also recently renewed its status as a gold sponsor of LEVA. The company makes 22 e-bike models in a new, state-of-the-art factory that opened in June. ProdecoTech bikes are typically priced below other premium e-bikes, and their aggressive designs target a younger consumer than the typical e-bike brand.
