Interbike moves to Mandalay Bay for 2013

Published June 11, 2012

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN) Monday June 11 2012 7:03 PM MT—Next year, the Interbike Expo is moving from its long-time home at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, show organizers announced Monday.

The show will be held September 18-20 next year, preceded by a two-day outdoor product testing event in Boulder City, Nevada. The show has committed to staying at the Mandalay though the 2015 show.

“Moving to the MBCC will allow us to create an even more dynamic event for the market,” Pat Hus, Interbike’s managing director, said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to being able to reinvent the show by adding more events, celebrations and providing more riding opportunities with the expansive outdoor areas at the MBCC.

"Additionally, there are several great attractions at the MBCC including the House of Blues, Mandalay Beach, 28 full-service restaurants, a greater hotel selection that meets every budget, casinos, and more. We will be creating new events and activities all with the idea of keeping us together and engaged more in one location.”

He said Mandalay Bay will allow show organizers to create a new floor plan with product-themed "neighborhoods" and better traffic flow. The space has more loading docks and freight doors than the Sands, allowing easier set up and break down.

As for this year's show, Hus said several manufacturers that were not at Interbike in recent years have re-committed to the 2012 show in Las Vegas. Some examples include Niner Bikes, Fox Head Inc, Zoot, Enve Composites, Six Six One and Spy Optics. He said twelve key exhibitors have increased their presence at Interbike 2012, demonstrating their commitment to the show.
