Outdoor University retail webinars offered Tuesday and Thursday • Indian bike trade show planned for next month • Western Spirit adds two new employees • First Solar sponsors Chipotle development squad • GU releases Roctane energy drink

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) Jan 30, 09:27 MT— The Outdoor Industry Association is offering two business webinars this week. The Outdoor University webinars are free for OIA members or $99 for nonmembers.

Tuesday's webinar, which starts at 2 p.m. MT, is titled "Shoulder-Season Discounting Strategies – The Eight Truths of Markdowns." Retail solutions expert Paul Erickson will discuss markdowns — what’s acceptable, necessary and healthy versus what’s excessive.

Thursday's webinar, also at 2 p.m. MT, is titled "The Five Maxims for Hiring Millennials." Roy Notowitz of Notogroup will help employers understand how to utilize the younger generation's assets and make their jobs and workplace appealing to them. Sara Schneider will provide insights as Notowitz's official "millennial sidekick."

First Solar sponsors Chipotle development squad

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) Jan 30, 08:57 MT— One of the world's largest solar companies has signed on as co-sponsor of Slipstream Sports' development team. The team, formerly known as Team Chipotle, has been renamed Team Chipotle-First Solar for 2012. The team acts as a feeder to the Garmin-Barracuda pro team, which is owned and managed by Slipstream.

It’s very exciting to have a company of this caliber support our team as we continue to pursue our goals of developing the next generation of cycling champions,” said Chann McRae, director sportif, Team Chipotle-First Solar. “The Chipotle-First Solar boys are set for an exciting year. We’re proud to have a roster featuring some of the finest U23 talent in the world. Our sprinters are eager for the closing kilometers, and the climbers are excited for high mountain selections. We kicked off the season with a training camp in Wimberley, Texas, and we’ll race all the way through the world championships in Limburg, Netherlands, on Sept. 23.  We hope to give our fans many reasons to cheer in 2012.”

Indian bike trade show planned for next month

LUDHIANA, India (BRAIN) Jan 30, 09:12 MT—Bike Expo 2012 will be held Feb. 24-26 at Government College for Women in Ludhiana, India.

Almost all the leading Indian bike and parts & accessory makers will display at the national-level trade show. The event is being organized by M/s Wheel Publications and Expositions Pvt Ltd., publishers of Indian Bicycle Ambassador.

Western Spirit adds two

MOAB, UT (BRAIN) Jan 30, 09:50 MT—Moab, UT – Western Spirit Cycling Adventures has added two outdoor industry professionals to its team: Travis Underwood and Lisa Cramton.

Underwood has worked in operations/production planning for Trek Bicycle and Niner. Recently, he headed his own venture, The Alpineer, a multi-sport retailer in Crested Butte, Colorado.

Cramton joins Western Spirit with more than 24 years of bike industry experience. Cramton’s past work includes ski travel tourism, retail management, The Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, crankbrothers and Pivot Cycles.

Western Spirit Cycling runs road and mountain bike tours and outdoor gatherings on public lands throughout the U.S.

GU releases Roctane energy drink

BERLELEY, CA (BRAIN) Jan 30, 09:23 MT—GU Energy Labs is introducing its first energy drink this month. Roctane Drink features Taurine, White Tea caffeine and Roctane Amino Blend. Each serving delivers 240 calories, composed of a blend of complex and simple carbohydrates. Each serving also contains 320 mg of sodium and 50 mg of potassium. It will be available in Lemon Lime, Grape and Tropical Fruit flavors. MSRP is $2.90 per single-serving packet, $30 per 12-serving canister and $45 per 24-serving canister.
