New Amsterdam Bike Show Returning for 2012

Published October 5, 2011

NEW YORK, NY (BRAIN)—Manhattan Media's bike-tastic event, The New Amsterdam Bicycle Show: Benefiting Transportation Alternatives, is returning for 2012.

It will be held at the famous Tent at Lincoln Center in Damrosch Park in Manhattan, April 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

Exhibitor spaces and sponsorship packages are now available for the 2012 New Amsterdam Bicycle Show. The inaugural one-day consumer-faced bicycle event, produced by Manhattan Media, was a runaway success in 2011—a triumphant return of the proper bicycle show—the first in New York City since 2006. Just like the inaugural 2011 event, the 2012 show is geared toward promoting the alternative transportation lifestyle to the ever-growing number of New York City's cyclists.

The 2012 New Amsterdam Bicycle Show will be set up in the deluxe, 22,000-square-foot tent in the park that is home to New York's Fashion Week. More than 8,000 cycling enthusiasts are expected to come throughout the weekend that kicks off Bike Month NYC to shop, hear what the experts have to share, meet bicycle makers, watch films about velos and gear up for another season of cycling. Local and national exhibitors and sponsors from the United States, Europe and Asia will fill the show's 72 booths. Also participating are New York specialty shops like Adeline Adeline, Bicycle Habitat and Hudson Urban Bicycle, as well as many national and international bike brands, clothing designers and lifestyle accessories.

The show will benefit Transportation Alternatives, the advocacy group dedicated to reclaiming the city's streets from automobiles. TA representatives will be on hand to provide valet bicycle parking to guests, as well as safe and useful bicycling tips for new New York City cyclists.

"Nothing showcases New York City's enthusiasm for bicycling like the New Amsterdam Bicycle Show. With something for everyone from the newest bicycle commuter to the most experience racer, this show truly represents the diversity and scope of bicycling in New York and we're proud to support it," said Paul Steely White, executive director of Transportation Alternatives, the group that has worked closely with the DOT to improve the cycling, pedestrian, and mass transit infrastructure.

As an exhibitor at the 2012 New Amsterdam Bicycle Show, a cycling or lifestyle brand will have sampling rights and listings in the event program and on the event website. All booth spaces will have Wi-Fi, electricity and booth identification included in the registration fees.

"Raleigh was blown away by the success of last year's initial New Amsterdam Bike Show. The event was a great chance for us to connect with our customers in the New York area. We're really looking forward to the 2012 show and the move to the Lincoln center, and hope we can give even more people the opportunity to start biking in their city," said Jake Hanson of Hayter Communications for Raleigh.

"The New Amsterdam Bike show has in one year become an integral part of marketing to the urban bike community, as well as a great way to make new friends and have fun in NYC, don't miss it," said Josh Walker, brand manager at Bern Unlimited.
