BLOOMINGTON, MN (BRAIN)—QBP has reached an agreement with Spot LLC, leaders in personal satellite messaging and emergency communication technologies, to distribute Spot satellite messaging products.
The technology allows users to link with a global communications satellite network to send messages, notify a rescue coordination center in emergencies, and provide GPS coordinates from remote locations. QBP currently stocks the Spot Satellite GPS Messenger and the new Spot Connect, a palm-sized device that pairs with some of today’s leading smartphones.
“These Spot products work great for all cyclists who want to stay in touch—not just the adventure cycling set,” said David Pierce, QBP purchasing supervisor. “You get global emergency assistance, plus Spot Connect works with your smartphone to send texts, short emails or Facebook and Twitter updates.”
Both models are designed to operate in areas where cell-phone coverage is unavailable.Users can request help in an emergency from almost anywhere on the planet. They can also keep in touch with people by sending short messages delivered as SMS text and emails. Additionally, the devices can be set to allow friends and relatives to track the real-time progress of a cyclist’s bike adventure on Google Maps.
“We’re thrilled to be working with QBP providing new and existing Spot dealers with thedependable, high-quality distribution and service they expect to better serve their customers,” said Steve Smits, vice president of global sales and marketing for Spot LLC. “Spot provides proven satellite communication technology that cyclists of all typescan depend on whether on road or on the trail."
