SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN)—Interbike is adding a little friendly competition to its OutDoor Demo event with the Strava OutDoor Demo Challenge.
Any rider can visit Strava.com to create a free account that will allow them to upload rides and track performance. Smartphone owners can also download the free Strava app for iPhone and Android devices.
Strava, an online app for avid cyclists to track their rides, compare their performances with friends and compete online, has ridden and mapped the well known trails in Bootleg Canyon and the Tour de Lake Mead course.
Of these popular trails, four segments have been identified as special sections on Strava.com. OutDoor Demo attendees who download and use Strava on their iPhone, Android phone, or track their activity using a Garmin device, will be able to upload their rides to Strava.com throughout the event, see where they stack up and compete against their industry counterparts to earn prizes, furnished by Strava.
"Strava has been creating a sense of camaraderie and upping the game for cyclists all over the world, so we're looking forward to showing the bike industry and its influencers the power and capabilities of social fitness first hand," said Strava CEO Michael Horvath.
Outdoor Demo participants can swing by the Strava Ride Upload Area, near OutDoor Demo registration, to view the Challenge segments, see more details of their performance and check the real-time leaderboards.
"Working with Strava adds another great interactive element to OutDoor Demo," said Pat Hus, Interbike managing director. "Besides creating some bragging rights opportunities for attendees, Strava is a great tool for sharing and spreading cycling's fitness message. We're looking forward to showcasing it at the show."
