SOUTH PASADENA, CA (BRAIN)—Move Press has hired publishing veteran Robert Rex as advertising manager.
Rex will work with existing titles Peloton and 3/GO as well as Move Press' new mountain bike title, Switchback, which launches November 1. He will also help create and direct a new division of the company, Gift Shop LA, a full-service print, film and custom publishing agency launching Spring 2012.
"Robert's 30 years of advertising sales and business development will help us get to the next level and explore new markets in 2012," said Move Press founder Brad Roe. "Robert will work along side advertising director Adam Reek on the existing titles, focusing on the launch of Switchback while also exploring new business for Gift Shop LA."
"Surfer's Journal has always been one of my favorite magazines and all 100 plus issues sit on my shelf," said Rex, a graduate of the Stanford Publishing Course for Professionals who received his MBA from Claremont Graduate School. "Move Press titles have the same flavor and imagination for me; it's not something found anywhere else in cycling publishing. The magazines aren't the traditional throw-away or light read at the newsstand. They're intelligently and elegantly published and meant to be lined up on the shelf and re-visited like a friend. Move Press is the career and the company I've dreamed about, and I'm proud take part in its impressive growth."
Rex most recently was the national advertising director at Hi-Torque Publications for the past seven years, leading their team in advertising sales, accounts and new business development.
